Why do I sometimes pay royalties to ‘Toneelfonds Janssens’ or to SACD for a performance, when I’m already paying Sabam?

Sabam is not the only society in Belgium that represents authors of dramatic works. Sometimes this is also done by publishers or foreign associations.

There are usually no agreements between the various parties that would allow us to collect royalties for each other's repertoire. If, for example, you are performing a play from the Sabam repertoire, but in an SACD translation, you will have to ask for permission from both us and SACD, and you will also have to pay royalties to the both of us.
